Sweet Christina

Finally saw Sweet Charity on Broadway. Christina Applegate is a bonafide triple threat as evidenced in this revival. Who knew? I don't think it's an overstatement to say that this is a star making turn for the former child star of tv's Married... With Children. Applegate delivers an astonishingly funny, smart, sensitive performance. Denis O'Hare as her neurotic, mild mannered beau is genuine and hilarious. The chemistry between them is charming, and the comedy that ensues in the elevator scene is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Mad, big thumbs up on this one. It's one of the best shows I've seen on Broadway since Cabaret.
