friendship with christine

i just read a very eloquent mass e-mail message from christine pechera.
www.savechristine.com

she is recovering from her bone marrow transplant. i spoke with the her on the phone two nights ago. she sounded great, but it's still not certain if everything will be okay.

i think what amazes me most is how she sparkles with such sweetness, humor and grace-- even though she is still weak. she is a force of nature!

i keep thinking that i need to appreciate each blessed day here more than i do... i am so grateful to have met christine. she is such a wonderful friend!

my former boss, sweet erec lindberg told me to read the book, friendship with god. i went to the bookstore to find it. i was unable to locate it in the religion, self-help, or new age sections. i asked the clerk to look it up for me. he said, "i'll show you where it is." he walked me over to the fiction section, and sure enough there it was.

only in ny would one find such snarky and sacrilegious shelving...

Twenty, Twenty, Twenty-Four Hours To Go...

I wanna Chevy Aveo! I saw the funniest commercial on tv last night. An Asian dude looks at his baby boy in a diaper in a car seat in his Chevy Aveo. He opens the door and comes out carrying a HUGE Asian dude in a diaper/sumo garb. It made me laugh out loud!

The Road Less Traveled

I read M. Scott Peck's book, The Road Less Traveled. I didn't much care for it. However; I did like one idea in the first chapter: Whoever told you life was going to be easy? No one. And once you accept the fact that just living is a difficult proposition, you can then proceed accordingly...

Wendy Ip asked me about one of my numerous day jobs. I told her that I accidently had one too many espressos... I wound up being jittery all night! She pointed out that this was like the Seinfeld episode when Kramer got free espresso drinks... Thanks, Wendy, thanks a lot. I wondered, should my reply have been: So, what? Do I amuse you? Like a clown? Oh, wait, I've done that, too... Never mind.

That Darn Wendy!

I showed up on Wendy's doorstep. She opened the door, scrutinized my outfit (black slacks, Ralph Lauren white, short sleeved polo shirt with a black collar, and my new Urban Outfitters black hat) and said, "You look like a golfer."

I recounted my tale of running away from a skunk the other night and Wendy incredulously asked, "You actually ran away from a skunk?" I replied, "Yes, I really did," as I made running movements with my arms. "And as you ran away, did a bucket of white paint fall down your back, too?" she quipped.

Why do I so often feel like my life is a cartoon?

Ellen

Alas, The Ellen DeGeneres Show did not use my song, "I Love NY" for their Sept. 4th or Sept. 5th show. However; apparently, there is still a chance that it may be used for an upcoming segment! I will keep you posted!

Whatever the outcome, I am still very honored that they were/are considering using the song!

THANK YOU, ELLEN, et al!

Punk'd

last night i ran away from a skunk. why is it that at least once a week i wonder, "am i being punk'd?"

a guy walked by me on the street. he was mumbling very badly. it phonetically sounded like, "bizzz buzza a blahhh... puzah bah bah... rah rahhhh..." But then his last sentence was, "That there darn bus never comes!"

he spoke EXACTLY like that character on the cartoon, "king of the hill," "boomhauer". and again, "am i being punk'd...?"
