Ask and Ye Shall Receive?

Is anyone out there selling their reliable, old car? I am in the market for a pre-owned (aka "used") Honda, Toyota or Nissan... Lemme know...

Also, Kira needs some new digs in the $700 - 1000 range, Brooklyn/Queens ASAP. Any leads for her or me, please hit me with an e-mail message at: florenceloveyoo@yahoo.com

Many thanks!

Grandpa, tell me 'bout the good old days!

If you are able to identify what song is mentioned in the subject line above, my friend, then you, too, are a pop country music fan... (I used to love The Judds!)

I was chatting with Randy, telling her that I love that Josh Turner song, I'm Your Man.

She started singing it and said, "Oh, you mean this one?" I replied, "Yes, and who are you?"

She sounded fantastic. She confessed that she was on American Idol, season two, I think... Ya really never know who you're gonna meet...

Jessica told me that she was going to write a romance novel. "Why?" I asked. She told me that her dad, who is a magazine journalist, told her that forty percent of books sold are romance novels. Who said capitalism isn't alive and well in the USA?

Why I Love Cheaters

So there is a reason why I love the television program, Cheaters: It's so funny! Not all the time, but one episode ended with the narrator explaining, "Christie is very grateful to Cheaters for the much needed cash she received for her appearance on the show." Another story ended with Josh being happy that this was now his big break into show business and that he would soon be moving to Hollywood...

For Your Information... and Did You Sponsor Me?

My laptop is still broken. Please bear with me if it takes me a minute to reply to e-mail messages. Also, this is a ridiculously late update on the final result of how much money was raised when I asked all of you kind folks out there to sponsor me last fall for the Light the Night Walk for the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society, but better late than never... I received a letter in the mail informing me that donations came in after the walk, and the total was a little over $1,100! Holy cow! I wish I knew who you all were to thank you! If you did not get a thank you card from me in the mail, can you please e-mail me with your snail mail address at: florenceloveyoo@yahoo.com ? I would love to send you a note. Your kindness, compassion and generosity humbles me beyond words... Thank you all so very much!

The Better Part of Valor...

Every so often when I chat with Wendy Ip
wendyip.com, she will end the conversation with the phrase, "And don't put that in your blog!" Now, it's so darn hot, I cannot recall what I need to keep my mouth shut about, so I'm guessing it's best to say nothing... Except that Wendy will be performing at Regie Cabico and Taiyo Na's most excellent Sulu Series at Galapagos on N. 6th St. in Brooklyn on August 6th at 7 PM! I will definitely be there!

Speaking of the heat, it has addled my brain. I could not remember how many reps I did while lifting weights today to save my life. I have no idea if I took my multi-vitamin or not. I think I took my vitamin C, though why I know that is a mystery. The heat seems to be selective about what it allows me to recollect...

I've been witnessing children spontaneously bursting out in tears for no good reason except for the fact that they are outside and it is outrageously hot. I wished that I could do the same, but alas, it's not really socially acceptable to do that, is it?

I was hoping that the heat would make me less hungry, but it has not affected my appetite one bit. I am cranky and annoyed for no decent reason. And you?

On the Short Bus

I was walking to catch my bus when I heard someone running behind me. I figured it was just a jogger and moved over to my far right so the runner could pass. I was startled when it turned out that this guy was not jogging at all, but had been running to catch up to me. "What's your name?" he breathlessly asked me. I saw that he was a tall, dark and handsome, white teenager in a baseball cap. I told him that I was not comfortable telling him my name without knowing why he wanted to know. He replied, "Oh, I was just wondering... I guess you're with somebody, huh?" I said, "Uh, yeah." "Okay. Bye, " he responded as he ran away...

Caught my bus. A few stops later a group of developmentally disabled adults got on board. They were very loud. It was hard not to eavesdrop. One man sat down and proceeded to make lewd comments to some of the other guys like, "Why don't you sit over here, Bob? You can sit on my face!"And, "Hey, John, come over here and sit on my lap!" It never dawned on me that some special needs adults are gay, but why not?

Bleeding Heart Liberal

So Alan Millman alanmillman.com told me that Alexa's name really is Lexus. I was thoroughly confused. I explained that his daughter told me that the girl's name was, "Alexa." His deadpan
response, "She's five. She got it wrong. Lexus' name is Lexus - like the car."

Wednesday, July 05, 2006

Odd Thoughts Du Jour

You know you have lived in da 'hood too long when you are introduced to a girl named, "Alexa" and you mistakenly think that her name is, "Lexus" because you have met other "Lexuses..." (Mea culpa, Alexa!)

You know that you are serious about your diet when you are offered creme brulee at the Four Seasons and you decline...

I am very thankful to: Carol Little for continuing to be such an inspiration with her commitment to working out. Julia Cho and Ed Chung for also being a shining example of how fit ya can be by working out regularly. Susan Matus for letting me in on the secret that she is not, as I mistakenly thought, "naturally thin," and that if she could drop the weight she did after the birth of her adorable son, then I could surely lose the poundage I wanted to! And last, but not least, a big huge thank you to Miss Smeeta (gosh, how do you spell your name!) for sharing the hot tips of eating healthier with me when we working together this past spring! Those 100 calorie packs and the popsicles are the best snacks ever! I haver really learned something from you all!
THANK YOU!

Best 4th of July Ever

I am not one to go and see fireworks, though I do love them. The Millmans and the Hoovers symphonysystems.com invited me to go to the rocks on the water to view the festivities last night. I went. It was da bomb, KA-BOOM! We were so close to where the rockets were being fired from that my eyes were stinging from the smoke and my ears were ringing from the bombs bursting through air! So great!
