HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

BOO! People keep asking me what I am gonna be for Halloween. All I keep thinking is: Don't I look like I kinda dressed up everyday? The bright colors, hats, etc... What more do people want...? I catch glimpses of myself in mirrors and think: Wow, kinda loud, aren't we?

Myoptics Rules!

Myoptics
42 ST. MARK'S PLACE
just off of 2nd Avenue
New York, NY
212-533-1577
Punk Rockers, Polish immigrants and those inclined to rebellion continue to flock to New York's famous East Village. The absolute essence of New York's downtown scene at full tilt funk.
SUBWAY: 6 stop at Astor Place, N/R stop at 8th Street.

I broke my glasses yesterday by sitting my big fat ass on them. I went to Manhattan Eyeworks, 169 1st Ave, between 10th and 11th sts., New York, NY 10003, where I bought the lenses for these things, and they were not helpful at all. Though I must say, the owner guy there is AMAZING at matching glasses with your face shape! If you are having a hard time finding the right frames, I would still highly recommend this shop!

I went to Archangel Antiques: Cufflinks, Buttons, Eyeglasses, 334 E. 9th St., NYC, and Gail told me to try Myoptics! I had forgotten about them!

I purchased my contact lenses from them long ago.

I stopped in and voila! Rich (I think that was his name) repaired them for me in a jiffy!

Thanks so much NY eye professionals! I can see clearly now! My glasses are fixed! Hurray!

Got a cold?

Florence's health tip o' the day:

I sneezed a couple of times yesterday morning. I immediately went out and bought some AIRBORNE and ZICAM nasal gel. Gargantuan thanks to: Carol Little and Sue Jean Kim for telling me to try this combo platter! It really staves off colds! (I've tried some of the other zicam products -- but the nasal gel seems to work the best, odd as it may seem!) Stay healthy everyone!

Christine Tamblyn!

I was lucky enough to study with Christine Tamblyn. She once told me that I was, "warm and excessive."

She also was kind enough to tell me that talented kids like myself, Johnna Schmidt and Michael Edo Keane were top notch -- we just needed to keep at it till we got our big breaks... What a mitzvah it was for her to impart her conscientious lessons and kind words of support to us...

May all of y'all out there keep on truckin', too!

Too Tired To Blog

You know you are running on empty when you continue to keep typing your own name wrong...

I have only one complaint about my trip to Philadelphia on the Greyhound Bus: Do not start a two hour movie if there is a chance that you will arrive at your destination early...

My complaint about my big New Jersey adventure: Limo drivers who do not know where they are supposed to drop you off at are...

Why does being tired make me just want to whine?

Playwright Julia Cho participated in "The 24 Hour Plays" in NYC last night. It was a big charity event. I'm sure it was off da hook! I heard that her cast included: Kieran Culkin, Rachel Dratch, Julianna Margulies and Nia Vardalos. Congratulations, Julia!

Her awesome new show, DURANGO goes up at the Public Theater in New York in a couple o' weeks! Check it!

Everybody Loves Flavor Flav

I wrote about Flavor of Love 2. I received countless email messages, and have even had people just come up to me, all confessing the same thing: WE LOVE FLAV and the show. I guess it's a hit for a reason...

Philly 2nite! NJ 2morrow! NYC in 2 weeks!

Hello Everyone!

I am beyond The Valley of the Tired. I keep thinking about WHY I watched the finale of FLAVOR OF LOVE 2. I was kickin' it with my pal/boss, Ms. Little, and the next thing you know we were watching the whole darn thing! Carol told me that Flav liked to call "New York" (the person, not the city/state) "dramatical." And all I could think was, "Isn't it romantical?"

Wasn't Flavor of Love 2 like watching some kind of train wreck? You sorta know you shouldn't look, but...

My friend Carol cracked me up when we were watching it because she said that he didn't stay with the girl from the first show - so this could just keep going on INDEFINITELY!

I even asked her while we were watching it, WHY do we want to keep watching him? She said, "He's a clown!" And then I said, "Oh, yeah, that's right. That WAS his role in Public Enemy."

She said, "Huh?"

She wasn't familiar with his old band...

Please come on by these upcoming shows! It would be awesome to see youse!

Caught DJ Andrew McPherson eccodek.com opening for Natalie Walker at Joe's Pub...

Andrew was fierce! Supercool, chill mix. Saw lots of head bobbing in the club. Three quarters into the set he sped it up a bit and then back down, which was nice right before Ms. Walker's show.

Man, such a big voice from such a skinny chick! Sorta made me think: Sarah McLachlan meets Bjork... Monica told me that Natalie reminded her of Fiona Apple and Tori Amos... Look out for Walker's new video, "Quicksand" that was filmed last week in Park Slope...

Love and many blessings to you and yours,
Florence :D

What You Wish For...

I used to belong to this lovely little gym called, Clay. insideclay.com

I often said, "I love this gym so much, I wish I lived here!"

I just stayed at The Shore Club in Miami Beach, FL for 11 days. shoreclub.com

I have discovered that though I dearly love Clay, it's much better as a gym than as a place to live!

I have got to start wishing for some bigger things...

Dress Your Age Not Your Shoe Size

I once did sweet, funny Irene Bremis' comedy show, and she introduced me by saying that I, like her, dress age inappropriately.

Yesterday, a cute brown haired boy approached me, carrying a little, plastic, green foot in his hands. He showed the item to me, and in a funny voice said, "My green foot is lonely!"

I looked up at him, speechless. He was probably around twelve years-old. All I could think was,
"Get away from me, Kid. You're gonna get me arrested!" Though I suppose if I did, I would only have myself to blame. Maybe I really should stop wearing clothes from high school...

Google Me This

I "googled" myself. It turns out that I was on the same bill with, "God" at a gig at 169 Bar a few years ago. I didn't know that God had a band... Man, this American Idol thing really is out of control...
